Marathi film Fandry is set to release on 14 February 2014. The film has already won Grand Jury Prize at the Mumbai International Film Festival and is creating a lot of buzz among the movie goers. At the time when the Marathi film industry is dishing out not just entertaining films but also films on social issues, Fandry is certainly a film that will be an eye opener.
The film focuses on the issue of caste discrimination and how a boy falls in love with his classmate even though he is from a lower caste. Love has no boundaries and this film aptly describes this saying.
The story revolves around a boy named Jabya who falls in love with his classmate. But unfortunately, he belongs to a lower caste as compared to her caste. Jabya’s parents work hard to arrange money for their daughter's wedding butJabya finds ways to collect the money for buying new clothes to impress the girl he loves.
The film is directed by NagrajManjule and stars SomnathAvghade and RajshreeKharatin the lead roles.
The film has already been selected at various festivals; both within the country and abroad.
